I wrote last month “Mobile data deprivation: ‘roaming’ — model needs updating” here is the link if you missed link … more on that later …here it comes. What is the biggest promise of mobile data 5G , Qualcomm calls it a “new era of connectivity”. Ericsson expects 40% of the world to be connected to 5G in less then a decade… Remembered wearing my first bluetooth Sony Ericsson earpiece and walking the streets of New York, London almost a decade ago. Many people thought , I was a lunatic talking to myself. Now, walk in the streets of Manhattan everybody is talking to themselves. Nobody thinks you are mad. Maybe we are all mad , who knows thanks to Airpods and the like. About a decade later many experts expect that it would be a common place thing to see people wearing AR (augmented reality) glasses or VR (virtual reality) headsets walking in the streets of New York, London, Seattle, Istanbul, Tokyo, Paris or Hamburg. It might sound far wetched but it really is not. There are great products out there that incorporate all the AR features. Vuzix above is one great example, I will not go and review product now , since this is not the topic of my article. These kind of products give the user the capability to experience the real world with information overlayed into the users vision. Mind you, AR glasses have the potential capability to capture and stream audio visual data from first person perspective. VR headsets, on the other hand, is an immersive experience. VR technology enables video and audio to be spatially correlated and computed to mimic real world for the user’s brain. I was able to experience Oculus and other VR headsets in GSM World Congress and New York City at different ocasions. The experience is mind boggling. 3D video and 3D audio impulses stream into the brain through the eyes and ears make the brain think this stuff is real. I postulate that in near future international travelers equipped with AR glasses could stream experiences from their destinations back to their home country. Hence, friends and family equipped with VR headsets will enjoy the fellow travelers “foreign” experiences. This would be a higher level connection and a first person experience streaming and a new era for the human kind. People any place on earth will experience other peoples pleasures and pains in “foreign” parts of the world through elevated levels of comprehension . It would be possible for them to experience and maybe even possibly to relate to those “foreigners” through fellow traveler’s eyes. Qualcomm’s vision a new level of connectivity is great and I comprehend it with a new spin. And like Ericsson, I expect more people to be connected to 5G even if they are in a different country.
The only issue remaining is to create a stable commercially viable and cost effective international data connection to those AR headsets as agents of change or first person experiencers. And trawell data is here to fix that problem. We are ready to tackle this challenge as Trawell team, and we are happy not to be alone Rocco has listed many ARPs trying to tackle the problem along with us, here is a link , and here is the Well Connected series link Rocco Interview with Trawell Data CRO Sibel Gazozcu, the creator of Roaming Handbook. #5G #Potential #AR #VR #Ericsson #Vuzix #Oculus #Qualcomm #New York #London # Istanbul #Paris #Tokyo #Hamburg #TrawellData
